Description

The course is addressed primarily to middle managers with an appropriate seniority selected among public institutions, energy companies, energy centers, universities and research agencies operating in the Mediterranean basin.

The training aims at providing participants with a set of technical, economical and regulatory tools to assess the most appropriate solutions in different energy contexts for an efficient and effective integration of renewables in the electricity market, while favoring the setting up of an international network of experts. The course will be held in English, therefore a good knowledge of such language is required.

Participations requirements and application procedure

The target audience consists of middle managers coming from the following Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries (SEMCs): Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Tunisia and Turkey. Places are available for open registration. The free participation is limited to 15 attendees from SEMCs, for which the organizers will cover travel and accommodation costs as well. RES4MED promotes a balanced gender mix in selection of participants therefore high significance is given to the attendance of women.

Managers from public institutions, energy companies, energy agencies, research institutes operating in those countries, with a seniority between three and six years in the energy field and good knowledge of English can apply, by returning Registration Form filled in jointly with the CV and a Motivation Letter , by the 7th of September, to training@res4med.org.

Participation costs (travel, accommodation and course tuition fee) will be covered by the organizers.

Screening of candidates

RES4MED is responsible for over-seeing the process and for final selection of candidates. After the evaluation has been completed on the basis of CV and Motivation Letter, RESMED will notify, by e-mail, to admitted participants, by the 26th of September, an e-mail confirming the participation in the course. Selected applicants will have to confirm by the 3rd of October their attendance.

Structure

The course foresees lectures on the main technical, regulatory and financial features given by qualified international and Italian experts, academics and highly skilled technicians, matched with visit to innovative laboratories and power plants. The training is structured in a way to favor the exchange of experiences among participants by means of direct involvement of them through fruitful interaction in group study activities and guided technical visits at renewable energy power plants and innovative laboratories. Because of the combination of technical, economic and regulatory topics, the advanced course encourages participants to explore multidisciplinary approaches.

Duration and location

The training course will last two working weeks (November 17-28, 2014) and will be held in an equipped lecture room at the Politecnico di Milano, Bovisa Campus.

A certificate of attendance will be released by RES4MED at the end of the course. All the documents requested for registration need to be provided in English.
